Sukhu launches development projects worth ₹90 crore in Kasauli constituency

Chief Minister Sukhu unveiled a package of development projects valued at ₹90 crore for the Kasauli constituency. The announcement, made public during a formal event, outlines a series of initiatives designed to address longstanding local needs and to improve infrastructure across the area. The package includes financial support for women, educational upgrades, banking services, and a feasibility study for a new water infrastructure project. By committing these resources, the administration signals a focused effort to promote balanced regional development and to respond to demands that have persisted over recent years.

Under the Indira Gandhi Sukh Samman Nidhi scheme, a monthly pension of ₹1,500 will be provided to eligible women from five gram panchayats. The scheme, which is part of a centrally launched programme aimed at supporting senior women and those facing economic hardship, will disburse the amount directly to beneficiaries after verification of eligibility. The pension is intended to supplement household income, enable greater participation of women in community decision‑making, and provide a measure of financial security. Implementation will follow the established procedures of the scheme, with payments scheduled to commence after the necessary enrollment formalities are completed.

The Pratha school, an established institution in the constituency, will be formally affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education. This affiliation will bring the school under the national curriculum framework, standardising syllabus content, assessment procedures and teacher qualifications. The move is expected to raise the quality of education, improve student outcomes and increase the school’s recognition among parents and education officials. The affiliation follows recent policy initiatives that encourage schools to align with national standards and to enhance overall educational attainment.

A branch of Jogindra Cooperative Bank will be opened in the area, bringing formal banking services to residents and supporting local commerce. The cooperative bank, known for its community‑focused lending practices, will offer savings accounts, credit facilities and other financial services that are currently limited in the region. By establishing a physical presence, the institution aims to facilitate easier access to banking for traders, farmers and other local entrepreneurs, thereby stimulating economic activity and fostering financial inclusion.

A survey has been commissioned for the construction of a dam at Chati Dhank. The study will evaluate the site’s geological and hydrological characteristics, estimate the potential for water storage, assess benefits for irrigation and flood mitigation, and analyse environmental and financial implications. Findings from the survey will be presented to the relevant authorities and will inform decisions regarding the feasibility, design and funding of the dam project. The exercise reflects a broader commitment to strengthening water security in the region.

Collectively, these measures address multiple dimensions of community life, from education and finance to water resources and social welfare. By targeting diverse sectors simultaneously, the government aims to create a more resilient and prosperous environment for the people of Kasauli.
