Patiala police and health officials have dismantled a sex determination operation, arresting a former health worker for the fifth time in 11 years. During the operation, authorities recovered a portable ultrasound machine and MTP kit, which were allegedly used to conduct illegal pre-natal sex selection tests. The individual faces charges under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC-PNDT) Act, which prohibits sex determination before birth. This marks the latest enforcement action against illegal sex selection practices in the region.
