On May 19, a joint team of the forest department, the forest protection force, police and revenue officials demolished around 32 illegally constructed houses on forest land in Raika Bandi, Jammu. As the demolition proceeded, a crowd gathered to protest, leading police to fire shots in the air to disperse the mob.
