Mohali airport link road set for completion by June 15, says GMADA
GMADA’s superintending engineer Ajay Garg says the remaining bridge work and road surfacing on the Mohali airport link road will be completed by June 15, improving connectivity to the airport.
Mohali is set to see the completion of the airport link road by June 15, according to a recent statement from GMADA’s superintending engineer, Ajay Garg. The official said that the remaining construction work, which includes the unfinished portion of the bridge and the final surfacing of the road, is moving ahead at a steady pace.
The road connects Phase 11 of the city’s development plan with the airport area.
Garg noted that the project remains on schedule despite the pending tasks. He said the bridge’s incomplete segment and the last layer of asphalt still require attention, but the team is maintaining a consistent rhythm to meet the target date.
Engineering teams are working to finish the bridge’s unfinished segment, which remains part of the project. The final surfacing step is being undertaken.
GMADA officials say the project is on track. The superintending engineer added that the work is proceeding steadily.
The completion of the road is part of the regional development authority’s infrastructure efforts to support the growth of the airport area and the surrounding sectors.
Mohali, a rapidly growing city in the Chandigarh region, has been focusing on infrastructure upgrades to support its expanding population and economic activities. The airport link road is a key element of these efforts, providing a direct connection between Phase 11 and the airport area.
The link road runs through a developing zone that includes residential plots and commercial spaces, reflecting the area’s ongoing urban expansion. The road will serve commuters, residents, and officials traveling to and from the airport, supporting the region’s transportation demands.
The unfinished bridge portion has been a point of delay, but engineers are addressing it as part of the ongoing work. The final surfacing will ensure a smooth and durable surface for traffic.
As the June 15 deadline approaches, the focus remains on ensuring that the bridge section is fully completed and that the road surface meets the required standards. Once finished, the link road will provide a direct route for vehicles traveling between Phase 11 and the airport area.
Officials say the timely completion will improve accessibility for residents of Mohali, Chandigarh and nearby towns. The project shows the authority’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that meets regional needs.
