Amritsar – In a decisive move against cross‑border crime, four individuals have been taken into custody after authorities uncovered a stash of five kilograms of heroin and two pistols. The arrests were made in connection with a smuggling network that moves contraband across the border.

The four suspects were identified as Akash Sandhu (30) from Rambagh, Sunil Saroj (40) from Khai Mohalla, Harwinder Singh, also known as Chamkaur (32), and Vansh Singh (40), both from Chhidan village in Amritsar. They were apprehended during a coordinated operation that targeted the movement of illegal substances and weapons.

Police confirmed that the haul included five kilograms of refined heroin, a quantity that underscores the scale of the trafficking effort, as well as two hand‑guns. The seized items were handed over to the appropriate legal authorities for further processing.

The case highlights the continuing challenge of cross‑border smuggling in the region, where drug trafficking and illegal arms trade intersect to fuel organized crime. Such activities pose serious risks to public safety and contribute to the broader problem of narcotics availability in Punjab.

Legal proceedings are expected to follow, with the accused likely to face charges under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. The matter will be examined by the courts, and further investigations may uncover additional links within the network.

This crackdown forms part of a larger effort by law enforcement agencies to disrupt illicit supply chains that cross state and international boundaries. Authorities continue to monitor similar activities and collaborate with neighboring jurisdictions to prevent the flow of drugs and weapons.

The seizure serves as a reminder of the persistent threat posed by transnational criminal networks and the importance of sustained vigilance by police and regulatory bodies.
