J&K Lieutenant Governor Launches Amarnath Yatra with Pratham Puja
J&K official performed Pratham Puja to launch the 57‑day Amarnath Yatra, starting July 3 via twin routes, with pilgrims flagged off from Jammu on July 2.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha performed a traditional Pratham Puja on Tuesday, marking the ceremonial start of the Amarnath Yatra. The ritual took place at the shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and signified the official commencement of the pilgrimage. A security convoy, tasked with moving officials and pilgrims, carried out a dry run of the planned route earlier in the day, testing coordination between police and paramilitary forces. The Amarnath Yatra, a 57‑day annual pilgrimage, is set to officially begin on July 3, with the first batch of pilgrims scheduled to be flagged off from Jammu on July 2. The pilgrimage will be undertaken via two distinct routes that cross the rugged Himalayan terrain, allowing devotees to travel on foot. Preparations for the yatra have been ongoing, with authorities focusing on logistics and security arrangements along the routes. The event draws pilgrims from across the region and holds deep spiritual significance for Hindus undertaking the trek to the holy cave. His presence at the ceremony highlighted the importance of the occasion.
